…therefore be holy, because I am holy. Leviticus 11:45b

Week 2: Follow Me

Notes:

So the LORD said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A rod.” And He said, “Cast it on the ground.” So he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it. Then the LORD said to Moses, “Reach out your hand and take it by the tail” (and he reached out his hand and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand),“that they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.” Exodus 4:2-5

God takes the skills we have and transforms them into abiilities we would otherwise not have.  In order for this to happen, we must first lay them down at his feet and trust Him with them.

My Goal:

To lay down my skills at His feet… how much will be accomplished then!!

Prayer:
Father God, I lay my life before you and all the gifts, talents, and skills I have Lord.  Equip me with YOUR abilities and in YOUR wisdom.  Keep me on Your path and lead me according to Your ways.  Be with me. Lord, bless me!  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.

“So he [David] fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands” Psalm 78:72

Week 2: Follow Me

Notes:

“He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” John 14:21

How well I can hear Jesus speak depends on how close I am to Him.  Daily (and all throughout the day) relationship with Christ allows recognition of His voice that is spoken still and small and in the dark.

What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs. Matthew 10:27

My Goal:

To stay in constant relationship with Him.

Prayer:
Lord, I long to hear Your Words with clarity and assurance.  I miss the intimacy of our friendship and sitting under Your teachings.  Bless me with Your Holy anointing!  In the matchless and powerful name of Jesus.  Amen.

“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” John 15:7

Week 2: Follow Me

Notes:

“he that walketh with wise men shall be wise.” Proverbs 13:20

When we seek counsel from the wise, we will receive wisdom.  As we abide in Him, He teaches us. (1 John 2:27); the anointing is crucial to what we receive.

My Goal:

To confirm everything in the Word all of the time.

Prayer:
Lord, give me wisdom.  Help me to do as You would and be in Your Will.  In Jesus’ name. Amen

“…The works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father” John 14:12

Week 2: Follow Me

Notes:

We are to have a tent mindset – we are foreigners in this world and are to focus on eternal matters, not temporal.  We are on a holy pursuit of God’s kingdom and completely dependent on Him (Leviticus 23:34).

My Goal:

To remember that I am an ambassador for Christ, a foreigner to this land.  I must live as an ambassador, representing the Kingdom of God.  I must get out of my complacency and have God bring me “out of the house of bondage” (Deuteronomy 13:5).

Prayer:
Lord, I have become comfortable in this place that is not my home.  I have forgotten that this is not where I will remain.  Bring me to the place you’d have me be and lead me in what to do.  Give me words to speak and transform my life.  I will follow.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.

“The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.” Matthew 8:20

Day Seven: November 1

Posted by God's Gentle Nurturer on 11-01-08

Week 1: Repent

Notes:

In keeping a journal, include the following:

  • How consistent were you able to be during this first week of meditation?
  • What hindered you from keeping Scripture before your mind?
  • What was your experience in meditating before going to sleep?
  • Did you have any unusual dreams?
  • How were you able to personalize the Scripture?
  • What practical applications have you applied from this command?
  • How has God blessed you or your family this week?

My Goal:
To return to keeping a journal, something I’ve not done in quite a while.

Prayer:
Lord, I beseech thee not to leave my side.  I will honor you by committing to journal every day.  Whether it is a simple sentence or an elaborate piece, Lord I write it down to keep what You’ve shown me in remembrance.  Speak to me and keep me.  In the authority of Christ I pray.  Amen.

“Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.” Malachi 3:16

Day Six: October 30

Posted by God's Gentle Nurturer on 10-30-08

Week 1: Repent

Notes:

But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.  But as it is written:

“ Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.  1 Corinthians 2:7–10

Scripture is the wisdom of God and is revealed to us only through His Spirit, for the Spirit searches all things: the deep things of God.

But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.1 Corinthians 2:14

It is through our spirit that the Word of God is understood, and by merely using our minds, we inevitably rob ourselves of the true blessings of God.

My Goal:
To place my mind under the control of God’s Holy Spirit.  To place myself under the authority of God’s Word.

Prayer:
Father, God, I pray that you would bring this goal to my remembrance: to take authority over the flesh with the aid of Your Holy Spirit and to submit to Your perfect Word.  In Jesus name I pray.  Amen.

“The hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him”. John 4:23
