A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid a man who talks too much. Proverbs 20:19

A talebearer revealeth secrets; but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter. Proverbs 11:13

The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man’s most inmost parts. Proverbs 18:8

…and a gossip separates close friends. Prov 16:28

A perverse man spreads strife, And a slanderer separates intimate friends. James 4:11

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things. Ephesians 4:29

Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, that it may give grace to those who hear. Titus 3:2

Gossip is dangerous… it’s hurtful and harmful to all involved even if it’s done lightly and without malicious intent.

If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless. James 1:26
