“Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9b
Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun. Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil…. those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land… the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity…. the LORD upholds the righteous. The blameless spend their days under the LORD’s care, and their inheritance will endure forever. In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty…. Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever. For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones…. The righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever. The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom, and their tongues speak what is just. The law of their God is in their hearts; their feet do not slip…. Hope in the LORD and keep his way. He will exalt you to inherit the land…. Consider the blameless, observe the upright; a future awaits those who seek peace…. The salvation of the righteous comes from the LORD; he is their stronghold in time of trouble. The LORD helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him.” Psalm 37:3-8, 9b, 11, 17b-19, 27-28a, 29-31, 34a, 37, 39-40
God is with me wherever I go. I need not be discouraged or afraid; I am to trust in Him; do good; take delight in Him; commit my ways to Him; be still before Him and wait patiently for Him; do not fret; refrain from anger and turn from wrath; cultivate meekness; be blameless; turn from evil and remain faithful; speak only as the Lord leads; speak justly and keep the law in my heart; consider the blameless, observe the upright, and seek after peace.
This always comes across differently, each time I read it. I need not be discouraged. Disagreements are going to come, miscommunication is going to happen, and mistakes are going to be made. The goal remains however to be commit ALL my ways to him: to be meek, do good, be blameless, turn from evil, remain faithful, and speak as God leads. To do this – we are to be still before Him, wait patiently for Him, and trust Him.
Thank You Lord for this reminder in the moment I needed to hear it. I will not be discouraged; I will look to You and remember these words. Thank You Jesus. Amen.
