Remove and Replace

Scripture: “But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to their playmates,

“‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’

For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is justified by her deeds.”

Then he began to denounce the cities where most of his mighty works had been done, because they did not repent. Matthew 11:16-20

Observation: The people condemn no matter what the action.

Application: I stay quiet and I’m called fake. I speak and I’m called a liar. I give grace and I’m called self-righteous. I rebuke and I’m called judgmental. This is why the only direction I must walk is that in the way of repentance to God the Father. Everything I do, say, believe, or feel will have someone picking it apart. I am ME and my hearts desire is to only walk as the Lord leads… I have those in my life who encourage me and correct my steps according to the scriptures and the leading of the Holy Spirit and the Lord confirms their words to me when they are from Him. In the same respect, I can see how I might do this also. I do not want to see anything other than what God sees.

Prayer: Thank You God that Your way of conviction is not through insults, shame, or tearing one down. Thank you that You are clear and that Your rebuke brings about a heart change. You do not tear me down, but you edify me with Your loving kindness and you stand by the promises in Your Word. I pray that you remove from me any of the ways from this passage. I want to only see people as YOU see them and not simply what it appears. I don’t want to make assumptions. I want to know Your heart and I want to judge according to what You see. Help me to walk this out. Father, replace any of these ways of thinking with Your thoughts. Make me more like you. Less of me Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

The Veil is Removed

Scripture: “But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. ” 2 Corinthians 3:16-17

Observation: As one chooses to commit to change their character to honor the Lord, the veil of ignorance, the blindness of mind, the hardness of heart is taken away and cured. Through the Spirit of God, we are set free from the burden of ceremonial law and from the servitude of corruption, given access to God.

Application: I’m amazed time and time again as God makes His way clear to me, through the breaking down of barriers of ignorance, blindness, and hardness of heart. I want to remember this truth that this freedom was given in the very beginning. The veil has been removed from me! I’m not ignorant, blind, or hardened anymore, but the Lord has given me power and dominion over this earth. I determine to step forward in this truth and to take hold of that which God has entrusted me with.

Scripture: Lord God, what a beautiful design you’ve put in place, what perfect plan you’ve put in motion. I’m so thankful for Your perfect wisdom and forsight. You are a great and mighty God with such a love for Your people. I desire to walk out this brilliance You’ve created me for. My desire is to walk in Your ways with the dominion over the earth that You’ve given me. May all I do honor You and the plan You have for my life and those I encounter. Thank You Jesus. Amen!

A Gift Idea for My Children

I just got a really neat idea to make for my children… and I want to write it down so I can refer back to it!

In 2004 I began journaling my devotions and have done so on and off throughout the years. How neat would it be to put them all in a book so they can have it when they are older? It wouldn’t be just my devotions, but it would have little ‘sticky notes’ throughout it that show what I’ve learned since then, that puts that single entry in a more clear context of what God’s Word says and not just what I understood at the time. I don’t know all it will involve, but what a book that would be: my growth in the Lord and how He’s revealed Himself to me!!

Now my wheels are turning!

What a gift it would be to have such a thing from those who’ve gone before me whose lives I’ve witnessed; what a way for them to know my heart and the heart of the Father!

May my children see Christ in me as I walk throughout my days! That is the desire of my heart!

Oooh, this has me excited. Please pray for me as I work out how this would work! Bless you!

The Truth Remains

Scripture: “You were running [the race] well; who has interfered and prevented you from obeying the truth? This [deceptive] persuasion is not from Him who called you [to freedom in Christ]. A little leaven [a slight inclination to error, or a few false teachers] leavens the whole batch [it perverts the concept of faith and misleads the church]. I have confidence in you in the Lord that you will adopt no other view [contrary to mine on the matter]; but the one who is disturbing you, whoever he is, will have to bear the penalty.” Galatians 5:7-10

Observation: Those who disturb the race with deception, will receive due consequence.

Application: I was running the race well, then I gave in to desires of my flesh and the deceptive persuasion of those around me. In doing so, I opened up the door to allow leaven to permeate those areas of my life. I toiled and wrestled with the truth as I navigated through the confusion inside my own mind. The Lord called me to walk away from certain deceptive influences in my life, but in my haste and impatience, I welcomed them back into my life. In doing so, I allowed more confusion and chaos to come into my life. The truth remains, however, no matter the confusion that the corruption of the world has brought in and it is for our freedom that Christ has come, to set us free.

“It was for this freedom that Christ set us free [completely liberating us]; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery [which you once removed].” Galatians 5:1

Prayer: Thank You, Lord, the One True God, who does not confuse or abandon. You pursued me in my weakness and in my attempts to serve you despite my selfishness and ignorance. How faithful you truly are, no matter where I was at in my own faith. Thank you for never giving up on me and for giving me freedom. Continue to guide me in the way YOU would have me go, and out of any areas of my life that I’m still led by my flesh or deceit. In the Holy and Perfect name of your only begotten son,  Jesus Christ. Amen.

Transform Me!

So the LORD said to him, “What is that in your hand?” He said, “A rod.” And He said, “Cast it on the ground.” So he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it. Then the LORD said to Moses, “Reach out your hand and take it by the tail” (and he reached out his hand and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand),“that they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.” Exodus 4:2-5

God takes the skills we have and transforms them into abilities we would otherwise not have. In order for this to happen, we must first lay them down at his feet and trust Him with them.

To lay down my skills at His feet… how much will be accomplished then!!

Father God, I lay my life before you and all the gifts, talents, and skills I have Lord. Equip me with YOUR abilities and in YOUR wisdom. Keep me on Your path and lead me according to Your ways. Be with me. Lord, bless me! In Jesus’ name. Amen.

“So he [David] fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands” Psalm 78:72

Bible Reading Plan

Job 28,29; Gal. 1,

S – Oh, that I were as in months past, As in the days when God watched over me… Job 29:2

O – Job felt that God no longer watched over him, but we know that this was not the case.  God watched over him every moment and only allowed Satan the freedom with which Job could handle.

A – No matter what is occurring around me, I must remember that God IS watching over me and that He is allowing Satan the freedom with which I can handle… because all that comes against me is a testament to MY faith in God!

P – Lord, I trust in Your perfect will.  Never leave my side.  I know I am never alone in this life and even when I cannot feel you there I will remind myself that you will not forsake me.  You are not a man that you should lie!  You are a promise keeper and I know you love me.  Thank You!!  I pray that I would remember this when it is most necessary to remember.  That I will remind others around me as well.  In Jesus name.  Amen.

I Surrender My Skills!

I need to lay down my skills at His feet… how much will be accomplished then!!
